Hawthorn Leaf Extract

Hawthorn, botanical name Crataegus pinnatifida, grows as a thorny shrub with white and pink flowers and berries in Europe, Western Asia, North America and Northern Africa. Modern medicinal parts used are the leaves and flowers whereas traditional preparations use the fruit. The main active constituents of Hawthorn are flavonoids including oligomeric procyanidins (OPCs), vitexin, Vitexin-2”-0-rhamnoside, quercetin, and hyperoside.

 

The flavones from Hawthorn leaf is extracted from dried leaves of Crataegus pinnatifida. Its major ingredients are vitexin rhamnoside, Hyperoside and oligomeric procyanidins. Pharmacologically it can lower blood pressure. Increase blood flow of coronary artery, decrease lipids in blood, benefit heart and treat arrhythmias.
